The Sunday Times has rated casual dining chain Five Guys the top hospitality company in its Fast Track 100 list which ranks the 100 private companies with the fastest-growing sales over their last three years in the UK.
The ‘better burger’ company backed by Carphone Warehouse founder Sir Charles Dunstone, was listed eight in the table thanks to an annual sales rise of 129% over the last three years.
Five Guy UK chief executive, John Eckbert, said: “To be included in the Sunday Times Fast Track list is a high honour for us and represents an incredible effort from our in-store crew and managers.
“We like to keep it simple at Five Guys – the finest ingredients you can buy, fresh and never frozen, cooked to order in an open kitchen.”
The next highest rated hospitality business was another burger chain, Honest Burger (31), which grew sales by 76% over the period.
Launched in Brixton market in 2011, the group operates 25 restaurants across the UK with the majority located in London.
Next on the list with a sales rise of 60% was pub and restaurant operator, New World Trading Company (56), the group behind the Botanist chain of pubs.
Its position was down on last year when it came 19th with sales growth of 88%.
The Giggling Squid, a family of 22 restaurants spread across London and the Home Counties, was ranked 60th with revenue growth of 59%.
The company, owned by Thai-born Pranee Laurillard and her husband Andrew, opened its first London site in Wimbledon in November.
BrewDog (62), Leon Restaurants (71) and Signature Pubs (96) were the other food and drink firms included with respective sales increases of 58%, 54% and 48% over the last three years.
