Georgia-based QSR franchise Zaxby’s is expanding into the US state of New Jersey, with two locations scheduled to open in South Jersey by summer 2025.
This marks the start of a significant expansion for the franchise into the Garden State.
The expansion is spearheaded by the GSP Group, led by Premanand Gupta.
Gupta said: “We started looking into Zaxby’s about a year ago.
“We have always been interested in the growing chicken market, and Zaxby’s stood out with its exceptional product and strong business model. We’re confident that it will quickly become a local favourite.”
The group has committed to opening six Zaxby’s locations across South, Central and North Jersey and is considering further expansion in the future.

Gupta and his team bring extensive business acumen to the venture, with previous experience managing quick service restaurant brands such as Dunkin’ and Subway.
Their strategy involves cementing Zaxby’s presence in South Jersey before progressing northward.
With two sites already secured and leases signed, their plan to popularise Zaxby’s in New Jersey is progressing steadily.
Zaxby’s chief development officer Mike Mettler said: “We are eager to see Zaxby’s expand into New Jersey with such experienced and passionate owners. The GSP Group’s strong operational background and commitment to excellence make them the ideal partners to grow our brand in this new market.”
Zaxby’s growth also includes Maryland, where franchise co-owners Curtis and Teresa Snyder and Teresa’s father, Thomas Mitchell, have a territory agreement to open three outlets on the Eastern Shore from late 2025.
Meanwhile, Zaxby’s continues its growth in other regions, having opened a new location in Starke, Florida in September 2024, operated by Matt Karlton of Mattszax 301.
