It’s time for Barrio Queen’s biggest celebration of the year – it’s three-day Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) event. The celebration spans all seven of its Valley restaurants from Thursday, Nov. 2 through Saturday, Nov. 4 and is the Valley’s largest Día de los Muertos.
This year’s festivities will feature live music, live painting by local artists, fire breathers, prizes, exclusive drink specials, and a special four-course Día de los Muertos-inspired food and drink-pairing menu.
Exciting Entertainment
The celebrations ramp up with a variety of live entertainment.
DJs will spin tunes on Thursday, Nov. 2 at all Barrio locations from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Live music, beginning at 6:30 p.m., will be featured on Friday at the Tempe, Scottsdale, and Avondale locations, and on Saturday at the Queen Creek location.
There will also be other entertainment spread throughout all locations each day.
Local artists will be on-hand doing live paintings, Modelo will be offering T-shirt printing. And fire breathers and Catrina dolls will wow guests.
El Bandido Yankee Tequila Takeover in Avondale!
El Bandido Yankee is taking over the Avondale location Thursday through Saturday! Guests can check out the El Bandido Yankee drag car, which will be on display all three days. Thursday brings a cigar roller and sampling of the new Drink the Machete, and the live band Pit Road Pickers performs on Friday.
Incredible Food & Drink Specials
Guests score amazing deals with incredible exclusive drink specials. There are $5 Casa Margaritas, $4 Draft Beers (Modelo Especial, Modelo Negra, and Voodoo Ranger Juice Haze IPA), and Don Julio Flights (three ½ oz. pours) for just $10. Featured drinks are the Hibiscus Paloma ($14), Frozen Strawberry Limòn ($14), and Machete ($13).
There’s also a smoking deal on a specially curated four-course authentic Día de los Muertos tasting menu. The menu includes a range of options, from First Course choices including Modelo Especial, Voodoo Ranger Juicy Haze IPA, Casa Margarita, and more to the Second Course’s Cocktel de Elote (corn, cotija cheese, chipotle aioli, Tajin, cilantro) to Third Course entrees that include options from enchiladas to chicken, to tacos, carnitas, and more, to the Fourth Course Pan de Muerto. The tasting menu is $36++ per person.
A separate, featured food menu includes Char Grill Fajitas (choice of protein, grilled peppers, grilled onions, served with avocado crema, Mexican rice, charro beans, and flour tortillas), which is made with the guest’s choice of steak ($29), shrimp ($28), chicken ($26), two items ($29) or three items ($32).
